Build payment infrastructure handling 150M+ API calls every month . At Dintero, you are not working on the edges of a product. You build core systems where failure has real consequences . We develop and operate the entire platform ourselves and control the full payment flow. Dintero operates in a space that is complex in two dimensions: <ul><li> Technical complexity -- distributed systems, high throughput, strict uptime requirements </li><li> Regulatory complexity -- payment schemes, compliance, auditability, and financial correctness </li></ul> We are also at the forefront of innovation in the payment space: <ul><li> First to implement Passkeys with Mastercard </li><li> Early adopters of real-time clearing APIs </li><li> First new acquirer in Norway in over 20 years </li></ul> This is a role for engineers who want to work on serious backend systems that must work, every time . <h2>Production at Scale</h2> <ul><li> 150M+ API calls per month </li><li> 10 senior engineers -- small team, high ownership </li><li> Infrastructure designed for high availability and robust transaction flows </li></ul> <h2>What You Will Work On</h2> <ul><li> Design and own backend services end-to-end </li><li> Build APIs used directly by merchants and partners </li><li> Make architectural decisions with long-term impact </li><li> Work with scalability, observability, and operational quality </li><li> Ship to production frequently and take ownership of what you build </li></ul> In short: less coordination, more engineering. <h2>Tech Stack</h2> Deliberate choices. Minimal hype. <ul><li> AWS (Fargate, Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora) </li><li> Microservices </li><li> Node.js and TypeScript </li><li> Infrastructure as Code </li><li> API-first </li></ul> We value sound engineering decisions over chasing trends. <h2>Your Profile</h2> You have experience working with complex systems in production. <ul><li> 5+ years of backend development experience </li><li> Experience with distributed systems and architectural trade-offs </li><li> Comfortable owning systems end-to-end </li><li> Experience where reliability, correctness, or compliance matter </li><li> Cloud experience (Preferably AWS) </li></ul> Scandinavian language (Norwegian, Swedish, or Danish) is a plus, but not required. <h2>This Role Is a Strong Fit If You Have Worked With</h2> <ul><li> Payment systems or financial infrastructure </li><li> High-throughput APIs or event-driven systems </li><li> Systems with strict uptime, latency, or consistency requirements </li><li> Regulated domains (fintech, banking, etc.) </li></ul> <h2>This Role Is Likely Not Right If You</h2> <ul><li> Prefer frontend-focused work </li><li> Want heavy processes and multiple decision layers </li><li> Prefer narrowly defined tasks over ownership </li></ul> We are intentionally a small team.
